For those that like a little poetry and whatnot.
This page is for you.
Words can have so much power. With spoken words worlds and souls alike are created and destroyed. I started writing poetry in the 6th grade, and God used it to help save my life. By the time I was 17, I was the youngest professional spoken word artist in Atlanta, Georgia (at that time), and spent my summer competing with the Atlanta MooreEpics Slam Team @ the National Slam Competition in Seattle, Washington. I’ve opened for KRS-One, Angela Davis, and many others.
“A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver.”
– Proverbs 25:11, KJV
Public speaking and speech writing quickly got added to my resume. I adore words. Whether it’s poetry, prose or plays, from scriptures to August Wilson and George Bernard Shaw. Shucks, the dictionary makes me happy! (And yeah, I’m serious. Don’t judge me. lol) I even majored in speech and language pathology because words written, spoken and unspoken are one of my spe-shi-al-la-tays! (in my JJ from GoodTimes voice) LOL All joking aside, writing and the speaking of those words have always been a way for humans to process their world, pour out their souls, and connect with others…so here’s just a little spot where I’ll share some spoken words with you.
